On November 2, 2010, I had the honor of being elected your sheriff, and on January 4, 2011, I had the privilege of being sworn into office. Already a significant transformation of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office is beginning. The department will become a regional leader in public safety as we:
- Provide safety through community policing (pdf)
- Restore trust through fiscal responsibility (pdf)
- Collaborate with local law enforcement (pdf)
- Encourage diversity to reflect the community (pdf)
- Improve service through technology (pdf)
- Connect with youth to build for the future (pdf)
In addition, we will focus on our core functions (law enforcement, detention, and court services), review how we deliver services, and build healthy relationships. The people of Ramsey County expect a Sheriff’s Office that is responsive to community needs and is a regional resource that is able to work alongside all of our law enforcement and community partners. Together, we will become that trusted, accountable, and valued partner.
I would like to thank you for your help and support that made our big victory possible. I would also like to thank the transition team, members of the Sheriff’s Office, the County Manager, and county department directors that have helped make this transition.
